The parents of P. 'Tina'; P. agnata and P. zecheri are both in the latter, non-succulent winter growth form catergory, so it is perhaps not surprising that their hybrid doesn't change growth form much in winter. This isn't true for all hybrids, some of my P. heterophylla x gypsicola plants produce a truly dormant winter bulb, whereas other plants from the same cross, produce a very tight, small succulent rosette. As a general rule, for most common mexican Pings and hybrids if you keep them cold/cool in a greenhouse over winter they need to be kept drier than if they are indoors on a windowsill. They don't want to be too cold over winter either, a minimum of 5C is probably OK for some, but other species prefer it warmer and 8-10C is a better minimum to aim for. |
